- Red-eyed Vireos don't get their bright red eyes until the end of their first winter. This is a young bird who doesn't have the ruby eyes yet.
- Four years ago, I had a lovely Cape May Warbler bopping around my deck railing while hunting gnats. This evening the same thing happened! By the time I got my camera the warbler had moved over to the tree line, but gnats were still on the menu.

- Eastern Kingbirds flash their crown feathers when defending their territory and during courtship displays, otherwise these bright feathers stay hidden. You can see a touch of the red crown feathers here due to the rain and the bird's wet noggin.
